Hello
My name is Brittany and I am the Founder of Finding Clarity Equine Assisted Therapy. Finding Clarity is very close to my heart with the sole purpose of supporting people on this journey we share called life. I have completed my Diploma of Counselling specialising in Equine Assisted Therapy, trained in EMDR and am enrolled in my Masters of Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association, with over 8 years experience working with people experiencing trauma and was apart of supporting the Northern Rivers community through the Feb/March 2022 floods. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I hope I get to know you soon too.
My Story
MY STORY
The Personal Part
I began my counselling journey through my passion for animals combined with my own healing journey.
My heart for horses started at a young age. Raised in a suburban home in the city of Sydney, I was unable to truly embrace this until I was 18 years old and, in a very dark place, I found the courage to pursue my dream of owning a horse. A dream that came with many challenges as my new horse, Clarity, began to reveal parts of me I had abandoned along my own journey.
Clarity taught me the power of boundaries, of forgiving myself and others and, hoof in hand, I began to unlearn old patterns, and
recreate myself as I became the person I am today, the person I am still becoming.

The Academic Part
My academic adventures were a happy accident. Fuelled by my love of animals, young and unsure, I stepped into university and spent five years completing my double degree of Animal Science and Zoology majoring in Animal Behaviour. I went to university unsure on what career I would pursue.

Coincidently, I found myself working in the support field as a Youth Work Coordinator throughout my time studying. It was during this role that I discovered Equine Assisted Therapy and made the decision to enrol with Equine Assisted Therapy Australia. This course took me even further into my own healing journey as I spent the next 2 years becoming a qualified Counsellor & Equine Assisted Psychotherapist, specialising in Equine Therapy.
Throughout my years of education, I consistently worked in the support field with experience in OOHC, Youth Work, Residential Housing and Aged Care up until the birth of Finding Clarity Equine Assisted Therapy in 2021. Through these career opportunities and experiences, I have built a wealth of knowledge in understanding trauma and vulnerability and how to hold space for people from all backgrounds, to find rest in their most broken places and begin to take the steps towards healing.

The Therapy Part
My intention and beliefs as a therapist are that you hold the key to your journey, I am merely a safe island that hopes to hold space for you as you become more aware of your patterns. Through this process, my heart is that you are empowered to unlearn what no longer serves you and recreate new ways of being, as together we explore the power of curiosity, over judgement, of being, over doing and enlarge your capacity to support yourself in every circumstance.
I look forward to becoming a place where you feel safe to unlearn and create a new way to be, where you find the quiet voice that you forgot you had, as you find a new self-awareness & compassion for you.
I would consider it an honour to walk alongside you as you become all of you again.
